ท่านทราบหรือไม่ ว่าถ้าติดโรคพิษสุนัขบ้าแล้ว มีโอกาสเสียชีวิต 100%
โรคพิษสุนัขบ้า หรือโรคกลัวน้ำ เป็นโรคที่ทุกคนน่าจะเคยได้ยินกันมาบ้าง
จากสถิติในปี พ.ศ. 2566 นั้น พบผู้ป่วยจำนวน 6 ราย และเสียชีวิตทั้งหมดในพื้นที่ประเทศไทย พบรายงานผลบวกของโรคพิษสุนัขบ้าในสัตว์จำนวน 861 ตัว (ร้อยละ 11.14 ของตัวอย่างทั้งหมด 7,729 ตัว) จาก 77 จังหวัด
สถิติในกลุ่มนักท่องเที่ยวที่มีโอกาสโดนกัด หรือโดนสัตว์เลีย ประมาณ 1-3 ต่อ 100 นักท่องเที่ยว ต่อเดือน (เป็นการศึกษาในปี พ.ศ. 2553-2554)
เพราะฉะนั้น ถ้าใครมีประวัติสัมผัสสัตว์ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการโดนกัด ข่วน หรือโดนสัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมเลียบริเวณแผลเปิดจากสุนัข แมว ลิง ค้างคาว ก็จำเป็นจะต้องล้างแผลให้สะอาด โดยการใช้น้ำฟอกสบู่ ล้างนานประมาณ 10-15 นาทีพยายามล้างให้ถึงก้นแผล และรีบมาพบแพทย์เพื่อรับการฉีดวัคซีนป้องกันโรคพิษสุนัขบ้า (ฉีดแบบเข้ากล้ามเนื้อจำนวน 5 เข็ม ในวันที่ 0, 3, 7, 14, 28) รวมไปถึงการให้วัคซีนบาดทะยัก และยาปฏิชีวนะในบางกรณี
สำหรับใครที่เป็นคนรักสัตว์ ชอบเล่นกับสัตว์ที่มีความเสี่ยงในการนำโรคพิษสุนัขบ้ามาสู่คุณ คุณหมอก็อยากจะแนะนำให้มารับวัคซีนก่อนการโดนกัด หรือเรียกว่า Rabies Pre-exposure Prophylaxis โดยในกลุ่มบุคคลทั่วไปคุณหมอจะแนะนำให้ฉีดจำนวน 2 เข็มห่างกัน 1 สัปดาห์ โดยข้อดีของการฉีดแบบนี้ ได้แก่
1. ถ้าในอนาคต โดนสัตว์กัด หรือมีความเสี่ยง ก็ไม่จำเป็นต้องฉีดกระตุ้นถึง 5 เข็ม ใช้เพียงแค่ 1-2 เข็มเท่านั้น
2. ไม่ต้องฉีดเซรุ่มเข้ารอบแผล ซึ่งหัตถการนี้เจ็บมาก และราคาเซรุ่มก็แพงกว่าวัคซีนมาก

Therefore, for anyone with a history of animal contact, whether it be through bites, licking, or exposure to body fluids from open wounds caused by dogs, cats, monkeys, or bats, it is necessary to clean the wound thoroughly. Use soap and water, wash for about 10-15 minutes, try to wash into the wound, and promptly seek medical attention for rabies vaccination (administered in the muscles with a total of 5 injections on days 0, 3, 7, 14, 28), as well as Tetanus vaccination and antibiotics in some cases.

For those who love animals and engage in activities with animals that pose a risk of rabies, the doctor recommends receiving the vaccine before potential exposure, known as rabies pre-exposure prophylaxis. In the general population, the doctor recommends receiving 2 injections, one week apart. The advantages of this method include not having to receive up to 5 booster shots in the future if bitten or exposed, and avoiding the more painful and expensive intradermal immunoglobulin administration.
